Liposuction is the most practiced aesthetic surgery in the world. The non-invasive alternatives (ultrasound, laser, cold …) do not achieve in any way such a spectacular result as this procedure which most often allows to lose one to two sizes of pants. The principle of liposuction is to permanently eliminate localized or diffuse excess fat. Usually, the areas concerned are the chin, arms, abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles.
Using multiple 3 to 4 mm scars, we begin the procedure by injecting water mixed with adrenaline into the fat to limit bleeding. Thereafter, blunt cannulas perforated at their ends with several orifices are introduced into the fat. These cannulas will be connected to a closed circuit in which suction will be created. The fat will be sucked up in a harmonious way so the skin can shrink with a minimum of imperfections. The volume aspirated fat is identical to the volume of water injected. It must therefore be understood that no difference can be observed in the first days. The excess water will progressively be discarded in the urine and it is only after a week that the first results will appear.
A single-zone liposuction can be performed under pure local anaesthesia (soft liposuction) or under neuroleptanalgesia (local anesthesia deepened by intravenous sedatives). The procedure is then organized in outpatient surgery (entrance to the clinic at 8:00 am and discharged at 04:00pm).
A larger liposuction of several areas should be performed under general anesthesia.
The procedure can also be carried out perfectly in one day, but sometimes we plan a conventional hospitalization with an overnight stay at the clinic (entrance at 1 pm and discharged at 11 am the following day).
In all cases, a pre-anesthetic consultation is necessary at least 48 hours before surgery.
An elastic wrapping sheath (Gaines Medical Z) is set up at the end of the operation and will be kept permanently for 1 to 2 months.
The postoperative sequences are simple but marked by bruises that disappear in 3 weeks.
The final result is obtained at the 3rd postoperative month.
We realize more than 80% of our liposuction in an outpatient basis.
We use only thin cannulas (3 and 4 mm diameter) to avoid holes and dimples and to obtain the most harmonious result.
We recommend a resumption of any sports activities and sessions of palpating-rolling draining from the 4th day after the intervention.
What are the steps to follow after liposuction?
After liposuction, it is recommended to wear a panty for one month in order to decrease the swelling and improve the retraction of the skin. For the first two days, it is better to take a shower with the panty. Indeed, the aspirated zones are swollen and sensitive: you would have trouble to put your panty back. Once the swelling decreases and the pain subsides you can take a shower without the panty (you should also wash it) using an emollient cleanser. You can then apply an extra dosed caffeine cream to improve the drainage of your skin.
From the 4th day, it is useful to perform 4 to 6 sessions of palpating-rolling massage and LPG with a masseur-physiotherapist to drive away the oedema and smooth the skin.
Finally, we strongly recommend you to resume sport as soon as possible and to make a protein diet for about 2 months. All these efforts will not be in vain and will result in a spectacular change on your body shape.
How long is the body marked after liposuction?
The bruises usually last 2 to 3 weeks. They can be decreased using homeopathic granules based on ARNICA MONTANA.
When can we see the results of a liposuction?
The results are not immediately visible. Indeed, we infiltrate as much water as we remove fat during surgery. You will even be initially more inflated than normal (that is why you must absolutely put a restraining sheath).
Excess water will gradually be eliminated by your body within 15 days of surgery. You will then see the first results e. Subsequently, the sessions of physiotherapy will improve the result which will be definitive towards the third month.
Can liposuction replace a diet?
No, it is a technique that can help you in a process of reshape your body but that does not replace the benefits of a balanced diet. It sometimes happens that some patients can no longer lose weight due to iterative diets. In these cases, first liposuction can lose the superfluous volume. Thereafter, a healthy and balanced diet is advised.
In addition liposuction has the benefit of having a targeted action: loss of volume only affects the desired area while respecting other areas such as the chest.
How much does a liposuction cost?
The cost depends on the number and location of the areas to be treated. Thefore the price starts at 1500 € for a liposuction of a limited area under local anesthesia and can go up to 5000 € for a liposuction of 5 areas or more.
