Female Liposuction Belly

Belly liposuction: for whom, how, how much?

Would you like to see your abdominal fat disappear in the blink of an eye? It's possible! Today, tummy liposuction allows you to have your belly fat removed in just a few hours.

Doctors Berdah and Benjoar, aesthetic surgeons specializing in tummy tuck liposuction in Paris, explain the details of this routine operation.

What is tummy tuck liposuction?

Belly liposuction is suitable for men and women of all ages, of legal age and in good health. It is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to remove excess belly fat. Excess belly fat is therefore a prerequisite for the procedure.

Liposuction is ideal for removing slight excess fat. It is not capable of removing a large excess of fat cells. It is a dedicated procedure for people who are unable to remove their belly fat, despite sport and dieting.

Liposuction cannot remove large amounts of belly fat.

Note that abdominal liposuction can be combined with liposuction of other parts of the body, including the buttocks, saddlebags, thighs, arms and hips.

Belly liposuction: for whom?

Belly liposuction is reserved for people in good health who have a small amount of abdominal fat.

Factually, a maximum of 3 to 4 liters of fat can be removed. Some surgeons put the figure at 5% of body weight. These maximum quantities are guideline quantities. They are designed to guarantee patient safety.

Finally, it should not be forgotten that if the surgeon absorbs too much fat, the skin will slacken considerably. Tightening this excess skin will then require further cosmetic surgery: a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty.

So, if you want to remove a large amount of belly fat, you can talk to your surgeon about the possibility of performing two cosmetic surgery procedures combined: liposuction + abdominoplasty.

It should also be noted that patients with too much muscle relaxation will not be able to benefit from this operation.

Liposuction is effective on patients with good skin elasticity. Only with this elasticity can good results be achieved. Indeed, when the skin retracts, waves and other unsightly folds may appear if the skin is not sufficiently elastic.

Similarly, people with distended skin or skin previously damaged by significant weight loss will not benefit from tummy tuck liposuction.

Good to know:

For some years now, skin tightening machines have been available. These are used during the procedure to tighten the skin during liposuction. However, given the number of complications reported in the literature, we are unable to offer this technique to our patients.

Procedure

Liposuction of the abdomen is performed under general or local anaesthetic. It takes between one and two hours, depending on the amountof fat to be removed.

The choice of anesthesia depends on the amount of fat to be removed, the doctor's advice, the number of areas to be treated and your personal preferences.

Once the patient is asleep, the surgeon will make small incisions in the skin of the abdominal wall. He/she then inserts cannulas to suction out localized fat. Finally, he/she closes the incisions with absorbable sutures.

The incisions are tiny and hidden in the folds of skin around the groin, navel or pubis. Once healed, they are virtually invisible.

What are the postoperative consequences of liposuction of the abdomen?

Recovery time after abdominal liposuction depends primarily on the amount of fat removed.

Pain is generally moderate. However, some people experience severe pain for several days. In most cases, conventional analgesics will suffice.

Bruising may occur on the abdomen after liposuction. These gradually fade over a few weeks.

Most patients experience significant fatigue in the days following surgery. Sports activities can be resumed 3 weeks after the operation.

During this period, it is also advisable to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

How much does liposuction cost?

The price of abdominal liposuction in Paris ranges from €5,000 to €7,500.

The greater the amount of fat removed, the more expensive the procedure. Similarly, if you wish to combine liposuction (hips + tummy, for example), the price will also increase.

The price of abdominal liposuction varies according to the volume of fat to be extracted, the number of areas to be treated, the type of anesthesia used (local or general), the fees of the plastic surgeon and those of the anesthetist. It also depends on the country, the region and the cost of the stay in the clinic.

The surgeon isobliged to provide the patient with a detailed, personalizedestimate and a consent form. This estimate must show the price of each procedure and service. The patient then has a 15-day cooling-off period.

It should be noted that it is more economical to have liposuction performed on several areas at once than to have several liposuctions performed remotely.

Is liposuction of the abdomen covered by Social Security?

No, liposuction of the abdomen is never covered by Social Security.

This is a plastic surgery operation with a purely aesthetic aim. Social Security only covers operations that are necessary for good health.

The only case in which you can claim reimbursement for tummy tuck liposuction is if the operation is combined with a reconstructive abdominoplasty.
