{"id":1851,"date":"2020-10-15T17:15:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T15:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/micheldelpe.ch\/interdiction-du-macrolane-en-augmentation-mammaire\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T11:28:32","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T10:28:32","slug":"interdiction-du-macrolane-en-augmentation-mammaire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.plasticiens-paris.com\/en\/interdiction-du-macrolane-en-augmentation-mammaire\/","title":{"rendered":"Breast Augmentation \u2013 Macrolane Ban"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Heralded over the past three years as a breakthrough in cosmetic breast enhancement, the use of <strong>Macrolane\u00ae<\/strong>, a highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, has now been officially <strong>banned<\/strong> by the <strong>French Health Products Safety Agency (AFSSAPS)<\/strong> for use in breast augmentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Was Macrolane Banned?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The agency cited several potential risks associated with the use of Macrolane for breast enlargement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chronic inflammation<\/strong> of the breast due to the need for regular reinjections, approximately every 18 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Product migration<\/strong> as Macrolane is non-encapsulated and can diffuse into the surrounding tissue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Difficulty interpreting mammograms<\/strong>, which compromises effective <strong>breast cancer screening<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This decision effectively puts an end to a media frenzy orchestrated by Q-Med Laboratories, which marketed Macrolane as a groundbreaking alternative to traditional silicone breast implants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Personal Professional Stance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From the outset, I believed this product was a <strong>step backward<\/strong> in terms of safety.
