To ensure vascularization of the transplanted tissue, the surgeon must also remove a deep artery and vein from the pelvic region<\/strong>, which are then microscopically reconnected<\/strong> to vessels in the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditionally, this highly delicate phase requires a 15 cm incision<\/strong> in the abdominal wall, which can lead to significant postoperative pain<\/strong> and abdominal wall curvature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the Da Vinci robotic surgical system<\/strong>, this part of the operation was performed with unprecedented precision<\/strong>, reducing the abdominal incision to only four centimeters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
