The world's plastic surgery authorities are officially warning surgeons of the risks associated with buttock lipofilling.

In June 2017, we commented on the results of a publication in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, highlighting the dangers of death during buttock lipofilling or BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift). Following this article, the subject was taken up by the learned societies of plastic surgeons. Several scientific meetings analyzed the article and issued recommendations concerning this surgery.

Plastic surgeons around the world have just received an "Urgent Alert" urging us to take maximum precautions during this procedure.

It specifies that the risk of death is linked to the passage of fat into the gluteal muscle and then into the bloodstream with a fatal fat embolism or which can leave after-effects of the stroke type (cerebral attack).

The main recommendation is to never inject into the muscle and to inject strictly under the skin.

We believe that this recommendation is a bit "hypocritical" because it is extremely difficult to continuously monitor the injection depth during surgery unless an ultrasound machine is used during the procedure.

In addition, limiting the procedure to the subcutaneous area reduces the volume that can be injected and therefore the aesthetic benefit of the procedure.

For our part, we decided a year ago NOT TO PRACTICE THIS INTERVENTION AT THE RISK OF DEATH TOO HIGH.

We remain faithful to buttock implants which can give excellent results.
