Fat transfer or lipomodelling is a surgical technique that involves performing liposuction, processing the aspirated fat and then reinjecting this purified fat into certain parts of the body to add volume.

Until now, the treatment of this fat has relied on a centrifuge, which can only treat a minimal volume of tissue. This technique is suitable for injecting 20 to 30 mL of fat into the face, but was far too time-consuming for the large-volume injections required for fat augmentation of the breasts or buttocks (around 500 mL of fat for 2 sides).

A new filtration method has been developed in the USA by the Cytori laboratory. This bag can treat more than 2 liters of fat in less than 30 minutes. After my first 10 cases, I was also able to observe that the treated fat was of excellent quality, with very good results in terms of graft uptake.
