Description of a liposuction

Liposuction or lipoaspiration is the most common cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the world. Non-invasive alternatives (ultrasound, laser, cold...) do not allow to obtain a result as spectacular as this procedure, which most often allows to lose one or two pant sizes. The principle of liposuction is to permanently eliminate localized or diffuse excess fat. The areas usually concerned are the chin, arms, abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles.
Using multiple 3 to 4 mm scars, we begin the procedure by injecting water mixed with adrenaline into the fat to limit bleeding. Then, foam cannulas perforated at the end with several holes are introduced into the fat. These cannulas will be connected to a closed circuit in which a suction will be created. The fat will be suctioned in a harmonious way and the skin will be able to recover with a minimum of imperfections. The volume of fat aspirated is identical to the volume of water injected. It is therefore important to understand that no difference is noticeable the first few days. The excess water will gradually be evacuated in the urine and it is only after a week that the first results will appear.

Liposuction in practice

Liposuction of a single area can be performed under pure local anesthesia (gentle liposuction) or under neuroleptanalgesia (deep local anesthesia with intravenous painkillers). The procedure is then organized as an outpatient surgery (entry into the clinic at 8 am and exit at 4 pm).
A more extensive liposuction of several areas must be performed under general anesthesia.
The procedure can also be performed perfectly in one day, but sometimes a conventional hospitalization with an overnight stay in the clinic is planned (entry at 1 p.m. and exit at 11 a.m. the next day).
In all cases, a pre-anesthetic consultation is necessary at least 48 hours before the operation.
An elastic fabric girdle (Medical Z girdle) is put in place at the end of the operation and must be worn permanently for 1 to 2 months.

The post-operative follow-up is simple but marked by bruising which disappears in 3 weeks.
The final result is obtained in the 3rd postoperative month.

The specifics of our liposuction

We perform more than 80% of our liposuctions as outpatient surgery.

We only use fine cannulas (3 and 4 mm in diameter) to avoid holes and to obtain the most harmonious result.

We recommend resuming sports activities and draining palpate and roll sessions from the 4th day after the operation.

Questions / Answers

What are the steps to follow after liposuction?

After liposuction, it is recommended to wear a panty for one to two months to reduce swelling and improve skin retraction. For the first two days, it is best to shower with the panty on. Indeed, the aspirated areas are swollen and sensitive: you would have difficulty putting your panty back on. As soon as the swelling decreases and the pain subsides, you can shower without the panty (take the opportunity to wash it) using a supergras cleanser. You can then apply a cream with a high dose of caffeine to improve the drainage of your skin.

From the 4th day, it is useful to perform 4 to 6 sessions of palpate and roll and LPG with a massage therapist to get rid of the edema and smooth the skin.

Finally, we strongly recommend that you start exercising again as soon as possible and follow a protein diet for about 2 months. All these efforts will not be in vain and will lead to a spectacular change in your figure.

How long do you stay marked after a liposuction?

The "bruises" usually last 2 to 3 weeks. They can be reduced by usingARNICA homeopathic granules.

When can I see the results of a liposuction?

The results are not immediately visible. Indeed, we infiltrate as much water as we remove fat during the surgery. You will initially be even more swollen than normal (this is why you must absolutely put on a support girdle).

The excess water will gradually be eliminated by your body in the 15 days following the surgery. You will see the first results at this time. Afterwards, physical therapy sessions will improve the result, which will be definitive around the 2nd month.

Can liposuction replace a diet?

No, it is a technique that can help you reshape your figure but it does not replace the benefits of a balanced diet. It sometimes happens that some patients are no longer able to lose weight after repeated diets. In these cases, liposuction is the first step in losing excess volume. Afterwards, a healthy and balanced diet is recommended.

In addition, liposuction has the advantage of having a targeted action: the loss of volume affects the desired area (example: saddlebags) while respecting other areas such as the chest.

How much does liposuction cost?

The cost varies according to the number and location of the areas to be treated. The cost starts at 1500€ for a gentle liposuction of one area under local anesthesia and can go up to 5000€ for a liposuction of 5 areas or more.
